Our 2010 Russian River is comprised of 86% Lauterbach Hill Vineyard and 14% Beresini Vineyard. Lauterbach Hill is located in the prime Russian River Pinot growing area, between Olivet Lane and River Road. This wine typifies its location. It displays bright red fruit, silky smooth mouthfeel and light tannins; the Beresini fruit contributes some tannin structure and a bit of spice. 100 cases produced. Alc. 14.4% By Volume

Silver Medal - San Francisco International Wine Competition "Very good" - The Pinot File, October 1st 2012 "Moderately light reddish-purple color in the glass. Very savory nose featuring aromas of brier, herbs, spice and Bing cherries. Moderately rich core of dark red cherries and berries with modest finishing strength. Notes of cola and spice add interest. Soft and smooth on the palate with supple tannins. There is no weight from oak, so the wine is fresh, pure and easy to drink."
Technical Details
The fruit was hand-harvested at the crack of dawn then hand-sorted and de-stemmed in the winery. The must was cold-soaked for four days then left to warm up and ferment (50% native yeast, 50% inoculated) for fourteen days total 'on skins'. Three gentle punch downs were performed per day. The wine was gravity drained to 100% French oak barrels (mostly neutral) from François Frères. Lees were stirred until Malolactic conversion was completed. Left to age on lees for 15 months with a single racking just prior to bottling unfiltered and unfined. Alc. 14.4, PH 3.8 TA 5.3 RS 0.5
